The Highest Paying SDR Jobs: 2022 Report, 2026 Numbers

What the highest paying SDR jobs look like in 2026: verified base and OTE benchmarks, the company categories that pay top of market, and how to evaluate an offer.

Tenbound Editorial / / 4 min read /4 sections

The highest paying SDR jobs in 2026 sit well above the market median. RepVue's verified rep submissions put the U.S. median at $60,000 base and $85,000 on-target earnings, with top performers reporting above $130,000. The seats that pay top of market cluster in four categories: AI and infrastructure software, cybersecurity, fintech, and data platforms.

This URL originally published Tenbound's 2022 report on the top-paying SDR teams. That report is out of date, and a 2022 ranking would mislead anyone evaluating an offer today. This page keeps the URL and updates the answer: what SDR pay actually looks like in 2026, which employers pay at the top, what changed since 2022, and how to compare offers on more than the OTE headline.

SDR pay benchmarks in 2026

Use verified, attributed numbers, and note the methodology behind each source.

  • RepVue (verified submissions from working reps, August 2026): median

U.S. SDR base salary of $60,000 and median OTE of $85,000, from more than 8,000 submissions. Top performers report earnings above $131,000.

  • Glassdoor (self-reported pay plus modeled additional pay, 2026): an

estimated average total pay near $103,000 for U.S. SDRs, with a 25th to 75th percentile band of roughly $85,000 to $129,000. Glassdoor's model includes estimated bonus and commission, which pushes its figures above verified-submission medians.

  • Betts Recruiting (2026 compensation guide, agency placement data): U.S.

SDR base salaries of roughly $50,000 to $65,000, with base typically around 60% of OTE and variable the remaining 40%.

The spread between sources is the point. Verified-submission medians (RepVue) run lower than modeled averages (Glassdoor) because modeled figures blend in optimistic commission estimates. When you evaluate an offer, benchmark against verified data for the specific company, not a national average.

Who pays top of market

Company-level pay claims need a public source, so this section describes categories rather than reprinting a ranking. RepVue publishes per-company SDR salary pages built from verified submissions; check the specific employer there before you sign.

The pattern across those company pages is consistent:

  • AI and infrastructure software. The fastest-growing budgets in

enterprise software. High ACVs and technical buyers justify higher SDR OTE, and hiring bars are correspondingly higher.

  • Cybersecurity. Durable budgets, large deal sizes, and a buying audience

that is hard to reach. Security vendors have paid above market for pipeline roles for a decade.

  • Fintech and payments. Revenue-linked products make pipeline value easy

to quantify, which supports aggressive variable pay.

  • Data platforms and analytics. Warehouse, observability, and data

infrastructure vendors sell big multi-year contracts, and their SDR comp reflects the pipeline value per meeting.

Geography still moves the number. San Francisco and New York seats carry the highest bases, though remote-first postings have compressed the gap since 2022.

What changed since the 2022 report

Four shifts separate the 2026 market from the one the original report described.

  1. Fewer seats. The 2021 to 2022 hiring wave reversed. Many companies cut

or froze SDR headcount, and teams that rebuilt did so smaller. Competition per opening is higher than it was when this report first ran. For how team sizes are actually measured and why public headcount claims deserve skepticism, see the largest SDR teams research method.

  1. Heavier variable. Offers increasingly hold base flat and push upside

into variable comp tied to qualified pipeline, not activity. The OTE headline grew faster than the guaranteed portion.

  1. AI changed the quota math. Research, list building, and first-draft

writing moved to tools. Quotas assume the productivity gain, so the same OTE now expects more output per rep. Ask how the quota was set and what tooling supports it.

  1. Attainment transparency. Platforms with verified rep data made it

possible to check whether a team actually hits the number behind the OTE. In 2022, candidates mostly could not see this. Now not checking is a choice.

How to evaluate an SDR offer

An OTE figure alone is not an offer. Evaluate five things.

  • The split. A $90,000 OTE at 70/30 is a different job than $90,000 at

50/50. Know the guaranteed number and decide if you can live on it.

  • Attainment. Ask what percentage of the SDR team hit quota in the last

two quarters. If the answer is vague, treat the variable portion as speculative. Verified platforms like RepVue surface this per company.

  • Quota mechanics. Meetings held, meetings qualified, or pipeline

dollars? Who disputes a disqualified meeting? Comp plans that pay on accepted opportunities align you with the account executives you feed.

  • Promotion path. The real economics of an SDR seat are in the next

role. Ask for the median time to promotion and the percentage of AEs who came from the SDR team.

  • The system around you. A top-of-market OTE inside a Manual-stage team

with no data, no signals, and no manager coaching is harder to earn than a median OTE inside an Orchestrated one. Ask what tools, signals, and training the team runs before you weight the upside.

The 2022 version of this page ranked employers. The durable version of the answer is a method: benchmark against verified medians, demand attainment data, price the guaranteed portion, and value the system you are walking into as much as the number on the offer letter.
